Cloud Automation Engineer
Location: Europe | Remote / Hybrid
Contract Duration: 12 months

The Opportunity
We are currently supporting a leading global technology organisation that is looking for an experienced Cloud Automation Engineer to join its Global Product Engineering team, working on a secure, enterprise-scale Digital Experience Platform (DXP).
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on cloud automation, Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps. You will work closely with software engineers, cloud architects and product teams to build highly automated deployment processes and maintain resilient multi-cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain highly automated GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Automate container builds, releases and progressive deployments using Docker, Helm and Terraform
- Manage and optimise enterprise Kubernetes environments, including AWS EKS, Google GKE or Azure AKS
- Design and provision scalable cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Helm
- Support microservices across development, QA, staging and production environments
- Implement and maintain observability using Grafana, Datadog and Prometheus
- Configure monitoring, alerting and incident management using tools such as OpsGenie
- Support production incident resolution, escalation and troubleshooting
- Develop and test disaster recovery and infrastructure resilience processes
- Embed DevSecOps and Security by Design principles into cloud and deployment automation
- Implement automated security checks, vulnerability scanning and compliance controls
- Support cloud cost optimisation and resource governance
- Contribute to technical design discussions, sprint planning and Agile ceremonies
- Conduct code reviews and help promote DevOps best practices across engineering teams
Essential Technical Experience
Cloud & Kubernetes
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, GCP or Azure
- Experience managing enterprise Kubernetes infrastructure
- Experience with EKS, GKE or AKS
- Strong Docker/containerisation experience
Infrastructure as Code
- Hands-on experience with Terraform
- Strong experience creating and maintaining Terraform modules
- Practical experience with Helm charts
CI/CD
- Strong experience designing and managing GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins
- Experience with GitLab runners and automated deployment pipelines
- Experience with Git and artifact repositories such as Artifactory
Automation & Scripting
- Strong Python, Bash or Linux shell scripting skills
- Experience automating operational and infrastructure processes
Monitoring & Reliability
- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus and/or Datadog
- Experience implementing dashboards, logging, metrics, tracing and alerting
- Production troubleshooting and incident response experience
Security
- Understanding of IAM and cloud network security
- Experience with vulnerability scanning and security automation
- Knowledge of SOC/ISO, NIST and GDPR requirements
Cloud/DevOps certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, GCP Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) are highly desirable.
