An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to lead a critical Data Centre Decommissioning project within a leading organisation in the legal sector.

This role will form part of a wider IT transformation programme, taking ownership of the planning, discovery and delivery of a complex data centre closure. You will work with senior business and technical stakeholders to ensure the successful decommissioning of legacy infrastructure while minimising operational risk and maintaining business continuity.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project manager with strong infrastructure experience who enjoys working in fast-paced environments and taking ownership of complex technical programmes.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a Data Centre Decommissioning project.
  • Manage the discovery phase to identify existing infrastructure, hardware, dependencies and services within the data centre.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets and resource requirements.
  • Ensure all infrastructure designs and decommissioning activities align with the wider IT strategy and architecture principles.
  • Work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and third-party suppliers to deliver project objectives.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate project risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID).
  • Coordinate infrastructure migration and decommissioning activities while minimising business disruption.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure third parties deliver against agreed milestones.
  • Produce regular project reporting and updates for senior stakeholders.
  • Drive project governance, ensuring quality standards and delivery milestones are achieved.

Required Skills/Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proven experience delivering Data Centre Decommissioning projects.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex infrastructure or technology projects.
  • Excellent project planning, governance and delivery management skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams within fast-paced environments.
  • Strong RAID management experience.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and vendors.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • A proactive, delivery-focused approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple teams.

Desirable Skills/Experience

Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

  • Previous experience within the legal or professional services sector.
  • Experience working within a consultancy or client-facing environment.
  • Project Management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering cloud migration or wider infrastructure transformation programmes.
