Snowflake Administrator
Location: Sutton (Carshalton) - 2 days per week onsite
Rate: £450 per day inside IR35
Contract: Initial 12-month contract
Start Date: Mid September
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Snowflake Administrator to join a leading data and information services organisation on an initial 12-month contract.
This is a key role supporting and maintaining a complex Data Lakehouse platform, with responsibility for the organisation's Snowflake environment.
The key requirement is hands-on experience managing a Snowflake Data Warehouse as an organisational asset. We're looking for someone who has previously been responsible for the administration, support and ongoing management of a Snowflake estate, rather than someone who has simply used Snowflake as part of a data engineering project.
Alongside Snowflake administration, you'll work across data platforms, SQL, Python, ETL, data modelling and DevOps, collaborating closely with Agile teams to support and evolve the wider platform.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of supporting and maintaining the existing Snowflake / Data Lakehouse platform
Manage and administer a Snowflake Data Warehouse estate
Support the design and evolution of complex data models
Write and review detailed technical specifications
Work with Agile teams to translate requirements into effective data and technical solutions
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
Support debugging and defect resolution
Contribute to data engineering and software development activities
Work with ETL processes and data synchronisation pipelines
Apply development standards, security best practices and established processes
Participate in code reviews and wider Agile activities
Collaborate with technical teams, users and stakeholders
Contribute to the ongoing improvement and evolution of the Data Lakehouse platform
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on Snowflake administration experience
Experience managing a Snowflake Data Warehouse / Snowflake estate as an organisational asset
Strong SQL skills, including performance optimisation
Strong Python development experience
Proven experience with ETL and data synchronisation pipelines
Strong understanding of normalised and dimensional data modelling
Knowledge of multiple data storage systems and architectures
Experience with SQL and NoSQL technologies
Solid understanding of DevOps practices
Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions / CI/CD
Strong knowledge of Terraform
Strong knowledge of Linux
Knowledge of .NET technologies
Excellent communication skills
Desirable Experience
AWS experience, particularly:
- S3
- Lambda
- SQS
- SNS
- IAM
Experience supporting Data Lakehouse platforms
Experience with other cloud data warehouse technologies
Experience working in Agile environments
Key Requirement
Snowflake estate management is essential.
