We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Team Lead Software Developer to join their team.


Job Responsibilities/Objectives

1. As the Lead Engineer in your Pod, your role will be split between development, providing technical support to the pod, and mentoring junior engineers.
2. Supporting a co-located team of highly skilled engineers.
3. Technically hands-on providing estimates, designing, coding, and debugging alongside the team.
4. Providing third line engineering support to our customers
5. Working as part of an Agile environment.
6. Working closely with our quality and performance engineers

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

1. Minimum of 5 years' professional experience in Java development, Web Services and object orientated principles. Highly proficient knowledge of Java.
2. 2 years' practical experience mentoring junior software engineers, ideally within a fast-paced dynamic product-based company.
3. Excellent understanding of software development practices and have worked in multi-disciplined teams before.
4. Solid experience in the development of highly available and scalable applications
5. Ability to learn independently.
6. Excellent communication skills

Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

1. Degree in Computing or Science.
2. A good understanding of Agile principles whilst working with Scrum Teams.
3. Expert Knowledge is some of these technologies: Spring, J2EE, Memcached, REST, SOAP, JBoss, Tomcat, JDBC, React, JavaScript.
4. Practical experience with databases such as Oracle, Document DB and Mongo DB.
5. Jenkins with a strong focus on pipelines and dev ops (SALT).
6. Atlassian suite of products bitbucket/Jira/Confluence
