Contract Details

• Day Rate: Up to £400 per day
• IR35 Status: Inside IR35
• Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
• Working Pattern: Up to 4 days per week on site

• Duration: Minimum 6 months, with the wider project running for up to 2 years

We're looking for an experienced UiPath Developer to join a growing automation team within a leading consultancy based in the North East. Must have UiPath experience already!

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong UiPath specialist to take the lead on the design and delivery of complex RPA solutions, working with clients on a range of automation projects within a secure environment.

You'll take ownership of end-to-end technical delivery, act as the technical design authority and mentor other developers, helping to shape the team's automation standards and best practices.

Please note: Active SC clearance is essential. Candidates must hold current SC clearance at the point of application. Sponsorship is not available.

The Opportunity

You'll be responsible for leading the technical delivery of complex UiPath automations, taking projects from initial feasibility and solution design through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

Working closely with client stakeholders, business analysts and other developers, you'll ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable and delivered to a high technical standard.

This is a hands-on technical leadership position, so you'll need strong recent commercial UiPath development experience, alongside the ability to guide and support other members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design, development and deployment of complex UiPath automations.
• Act as technical design authority, reviewing PDDs and producing Solution Design Documents (SDDs).
• Develop scalable solutions using UiPath RE Framework, reusable libraries and best practices.
• Integrate automations with web, desktop, legacy and Citrix applications, APIs and databases.
• Manage UiPath Orchestrator, including queues, assets, credentials, environments and scheduling.
• Lead code reviews and establish development standards and quality controls.
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level developers.
• Work with clients and business analysts to assess, estimate and prioritise automation opportunities.
• Lead technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to automation governance, Centre of Excellence (CoE) practices and the wider technical roadmap.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5 years' commercial UiPath development experience.
• Recent, hands-on UiPath development experience, including a UiPath project within your most recent role.
• Proven experience leading the technical delivery of multiple end-to-end RPA projects.
• Expert knowledge of UiPath Studio, Orchestrator and RE Framework.
• Strong VB.NET or C# development skills.
• Experience integrating UiPath solutions with REST/SOAP APIs and SQL databases.
• Experience producing SDDs and taking ownership of technical solution design.
• Experience leading code reviews and mentoring other developers.
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
• Active SC Security Clearance (essential).

Desirable Experience

• UiPath certifications, such as Automation Developer Professional or Automation Solution Architect.
• Experience with Document Understanding, AI Center, Action Center or Integration Service.
• Exposure to AI-driven or agentic automation.
• Consultancy or client-facing delivery experience.
• Experience working within public sector, defence or other secure environments.
• Git, Azure DevOps and CI/CD experience.
• Experience establishing or working within an Automation Centre of Excellence.
• Knowledge of other RPA platforms, such as Blue Prism or Power Automate.
