About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Developer / Engineer to join our GTIS SQL Engineering team, supporting the delivery of Cyber Excellence initiatives and other strategic technology programmes across the organisation.

This role will play a key part in designing, developing, and engineering secure, scalable, and resilient solutions that integrate with wider enterprise services. The successful candidate will combine strong software engineering capabilities with database expertise, automation skills, and a passion for modern DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance enterprise-grade solutions supporting Cyber Excellence and related strategic initiatives.
• Deliver robust SQL Server engineering and development capabilities across the solution lifecycle.
• Ensure adherence to Barclays standards for change management, database security, governance, and architectural patterns.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to design and implement integrated solutions.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts, APIs, and supporting services.
• Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation and operational processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency, reliability, and security across platforms.
• Act as a proactive team member, influencing and supporting colleagues across Infrastructure Services.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Technical Skills

• Kafka Integration
• Ansible Automation Platform (AAP 2.4 / 2.5)
• AI-assisted Development tools (GitLab Duo, Claude Code or similar)
• MongoDB (desirable)
