We are supporting a leading UK telecommunications organisation on a confidential search for an experienced Data Access PCRF Designer to join a high-performing Core Engineering team during a significant network transformation programme.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of next-generation mobile networks, supporting the migration from legacy platforms to cloud-native architectures while enabling 5G Standalone services.

The Opportunity

As a Data Access PCRF Designer, you will play a key role in the design and integration of Policy Control Functions (PCF), Policy and Charging Rules Functions (PCRF), and User Data Repository (UDR) solutions across 3G, 4G, and 5G environments.

Working within a collaborative but fast-paced delivery environment, you will be responsible for translating business and technical requirements into scalable, cost-effective network solutions while supporting multiple strategic transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-native PCF, PCRF, and UDR solutions supporting 3G, 4G, and 5G Standalone services.
• Produce technical designs, integration models, and solution documentation.
• Support the migration from legacy network architectures to modern cloud-native platforms.
• Work closely with Operations, Testing, Security, Service Management, Marketing, Revenue Assurance, and wider engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership and expertise across policy control and charging domains.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and solution reviews for complex network projects.
• Engage with vendors and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of business requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with PCF and PCRF technologies.
• Proven background in Policy Control and Policy Charging design.
• Hands-on experience within telecommunications operator environments.
• Good understanding of 5G Standalone (5G SA) architecture and policy control functions.
• Experience working with Oracle policy platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud-native telecom network architectures.
• Understanding of packet core technologies and overall mobile network architecture.
• Experience with technical design, integration modelling, and stakeholder engagement.
• Familiarity with Diameter-based policy environments and migration strategies.
• Understanding of BSS/OCS ecosystems and their interaction with policy functions.

Desirable Experience

• Exposure to Telco Cloud environments.
• Experience with UDR implementations.
• Knowledge of Datatronics solutions.
• Packet Core design experience.

Working Environment

• Typically 2 days per week onsite across Reading and Paddington locations.
