Job Title: Junior Architect - Azure & Java (Technical)
Location: London - Hybrid
Salary/Rate: £505 per day

Company Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are seeking a hands-on Junior Architect to design and deliver cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure with a strong Java focus. You?ll partner with senior architects and engineering teams to build secure, scalable platforms-and help set the foundation for future AI-enabled capabilities.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
You will be responsible for designing and implementing Azure-based, Java microservices and platform components.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub/Azure DevOps); enforce quality, security, and observability standards.
- Perform complex Java development and code reviews, mentor developers on best practices.
- Model, process, and optimize data flows; collaborate across data engineering to ensure reliability and performance.
- Document architectures and promotion paths; support production readiness and incident prevention.
- Learn and modernize legacy technologies as needed; adapt to in-house Java-based platforms and toolsets.
- Advocate for AI awareness and help shape a platform that lends itself to future AI use (data readiness, services, governance).
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- 10 years total software engineering experience, with 4 years in Azure/Java architecture or closely related field.
- Strong data skills (modeling, pipelines, performance tuning, SQL/NoSQL; familiarity with data governance).
- Deep Java expertise (Spring ecosystem), including designing, developing, and reviewing complex code.
- Proficiency in microservices architecture-designing, implementing, and maintaining distributed systems and services.
- Experience with containers/Kubernetes (AKS), Git workflows, and DevSecOps practices.
- Willingness to learn legacy stacks; flexibility to work within internal frameworks and toolchains.
- Expertise/experience with Cosmos DB is a plus.
- Experience in large-scale data migration projects is a plus.
- Clear communication, documentation, and collaboration in Agile environments.
- Bachelor?s degree in computer science engineering, or equivalent experience.
