Job Responsibilities/Objectives
The Telecom Technician is responsible for safely decommissioning telecommunications equipment in live Central Office (CO) environments. This includes powering down equipment, disconnecting -48V DC power systems, mining cabling, and removing legacy telecom infrastructure following approved procedures.

1. Safely power down equipment following Method of Procedure (MOP)
2. Disconnect and remove -48V DC power leads, fuses, and large gauge cabling (2/0, 4/0)
3. Work within live DC power environments, identifying A/B feeds and redundant power paths
4. Mine and remove fiber, copper, and coax cabling without impacting active circuits
5. Disassemble and remove bays, cabinets, racks, and overhead ladder infrastructure
6. Maintain proper documentation, circuit records, and redline drawings
7. Follow carrier standards, grounding/bonding practices, and OSHA safety protocols

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

1. Central Office track record (installation or decommissioning)
2. Strong -48V DC power systems knowledge
3. Proven track record removing telecom equipment in live environments
4. Ability to read engineering drawings and removal plans
5. cable mining and circuit tracing

Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

1. Background withNortel, Lucent, Alcatel, Ericsson systems
2. Track record working in carrier CO environments (AT&T, Verizon, Lumen)
