Location: Manchester/ London/ Northampton/Glasgow
Day rate: £513 inside IR35
Start Date: 16/03/2026
Job Type: Contract until the end of the year
Role Purpose
The Business Analyst (BA) plays a critical role within the Network Security product team, working in close partnership with the Technical Product Owner (TPO), Component Product Owners (CPOs), and engineering leads to ensure that business outcomes, risk reduction, and regulatory obligations are translated into clear, traceable, and value driven change.
The BA bridges business, risk, and technology, ensuring that Network Security initiatives are shaped by user needs, threat landscape, and control requirements, and that delivery outcomes can be clearly evidenced in line with Barclays governance and audit expectations.
Key Accountabilities
- Operate as a core member of the product triad, partnering daily with the Network Security TPO, aligned CPOs, and engineering teams to shape backlog priorities and delivery outcomes.
- Facilitate collaboration between technology, security operations, risk, compliance, and service management stakeholders.
- Support the TPO in refining product vision and roadmap by providing evidence based analysis, user insight, and impact assessment.
- Elicit, analyse, and document functional and nonfunctional requirements, user journeys, and security control needs across Network Security capabilities (e.g. Zero Trust, secure access, policy enforcement, observability).
- Maintain endtoend traceability from business objectives and risk statements through to backlog items, controls, and delivered outcomes.
- Map requirements to industry and regulatory frameworks (e.g. NIST CSF, ISO 27001) to support governance, audit, and assurance activities.
- Write highquality user stories and acceptance criteria that are clear, testable, and aligned to product and security outcomes.
- Work with TPOs and CPOs to ensure backlog items are prioritised based on risk, business value, and threat landscape
- Support sprint planning, refinement, and reviews, ensuring dependencies and impacts across components are understood and managed.
- Support UAT, operational acceptance, and control validation, ensuring delivered solutions meet agreed requirements and security objectives.
- Produce and maintain evidence packs, documentation, and artefacts required for risk signoff, audit, and regulatory review.
- Ensure that changes can demonstrate measurable outcomes, such as risk reduction, control effectiveness, and service improvement.
- Ensure that product changes align with ITIL based service management practices without constraining agile and DevSecOps delivery.
- Work with engineering and operations to ensure changes are supportable, observable, and operationally consumable.
- Define and track benefits and KPIs, including risk reduction, SLA improvements, control coverage, and user impact.
- Support continuous improvement by using data and feedback to inform backlog refinement and future prioritisation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within financial services, network, cyber security, or infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of product centric and agile delivery models, working alongside Product Owners and engineering teams.
- Experience translating security, risk, and regulatory requirements into clear, implementable backlog items.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust concepts, network security services, and security control frameworks (conceptual understanding rather than deep engineering expertise).
- Strong stakeholder facilitation, analytical thinking, and documentation skills.
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes and service management tooling (e.g. ServiceNow).
Preferred Qualifications
- BCS Business Analysis certification (or equivalent)
- ITIL 4 Foundation or higher
- Exposure to security or network technologies (e.g. firewalls, ZTNA, SIEM) desirable but not mandatory
