Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Security Cloud Engineer to support the continued evolution of their cloud security capabilities. This role will play a key part in enhancing cloud infrastructure, driving automation, improving remediation processes, and strengthening overall security posture across enterprise environments.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, DevOps, and operational teams to design and deliver secure cloud-native solutions while contributing to the organisation's wider cloud and security strategy.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong cloud engineer with a passion for security, automation, and modern infrastructure practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive cloud infrastructure enhancements in line with agreed strategy and budget.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and deliver secure cloud services.
- Support stakeholders in adopting modern cloud-native architectures and technologies.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure and architecture align with current security standards and software development lifecycle practices.
- Automate operational processes, escalations, and remediation activities.
- Identify and assess security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps initiatives across cloud environments.
- Support operational excellence through effective incident, problem, and change management processes.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working within cloud environments, ideally supported by professional certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
- Experience translating High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) into technical solutions.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Java.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
- Familiarity with SIEM platforms, security controls, and cloud security tooling.
- Experience with Wiz tooling, including Wiz Cloud and Wiz Defend.
- Strong containerisation and orchestration experience using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience supporting Windows and Red Hat Linux environments.
- Experience using infrastructure automation tools such as Chef or equivalent.
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Experience
Candidates should ideally have experience with:
- Terraform or Deployment Manager for GCP infrastructure automation.
- IAM roles, Service Accounts, and Organisation Policies.
- Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, and Cloud Deploy.
- GCP networking including VPCs, Firewall Rules, and Cloud Load Balancing.
- Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, and Security Command Center.
- Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and container orchestration within GCP.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience within financial services or other regulated industries.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline.
- CISSP certification or equivalent security qualifications.
