SI-UNIX Engineer

Job Title: SI-UNIX Engineer
Location: Knutsford
Salary/Rate: £450 per day
Start Date: 14th July
Job Type: 6 month Contract

Company Introduction -A major UK-based multinational banking and financial services organisation with a strong global presence across retail banking, corporate banking, investment banking, and wealth management. The organisation operates at significant scale, serving millions of customers worldwide and supporting critical financial infrastructure across personal, business, and institutional markets.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives
1.Design, build, configure, and optimise Unix/Linux systems supporting high-performance and low-latency workloads
2.Support infrastructure aligned to market data, real-time processing, and HPC/grid computing environments
3.Work with high-performance networking technologies and accelerator ecosystems (e.g. Mellanox or equivalent)
4. Drive continuous improvements in system performance

Required Skills/Experience
1.Strong Unix/Linux engineering experience (RHEL, Oracle Linux, SUSE, AIX, Solaris, or HP-UX)
2.Proven L2/L3 production support experience in enterprise-scale environments
3.Strong command-line and system configuration expertise
4.Experience with performance tuning, patching, and lifecycle management

Desirable Skills/Experience
1.Experience in low-latency, high-performance, or market data environments
2.Knowledge of high-performance networking (e.g. Mellanox, Solarflare)
3.Exposure to HPC or grid computing platforms
4.Exposure to accelerator technologies (e.g. FPGA, offload engines)
