We are seeking a highly experienced Storage Senior SAN SME / Architect to provide technical leadership and strategic direction within a major OpenShift infrastructure migration programme. This is a critical role within a leading banking environment, responsible for designing and optimising enterprise storage solutions across hybrid and multi-cloud platforms.

You will act as the subject matter expert for block storage architecture, with a strong focus on Pure Storage technologies, ensuring high-performance, scalable, and secure storage solutions for containerised workloads.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

• Define and lead storage architecture strategy for OpenShift clusters and workloads, aligned with best practices.
• Design and implement scalable storage solutions leveraging Pure Storage arrays.
• Provide expert guidance on provisioning, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Act as the escalation point for complex storage and SAN-related issues.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers and OpenShift Architects to integrate storage with compute and networking layers.
• Ensure seamless support for containerised workloads and persistent storage requirements.
• Conduct performance assessments and drive optimisation initiatives.
• Implement high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Ensure compliance with banking security, regulatory, and data protection standards.
• Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation.
• Partner with Automation teams to enable automated provisioning and scaling of storage environments.

Required Skills/Experience

• Extensive enterprise storage experience, with strong expertise in Pure Storage arrays.
• SME-level knowledge of Dell, Cisco, and Brocade SAN environments.
• Deep understanding of storage protocols including iSCSI, NFS, and Fibre Channel.
• Proven experience in SAN/NAS architecture and block storage design.
• Familiarity with OpenShift, Kubernetes, and CSI (Container Storage Interface).
• Strong experience in backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Advanced troubleshooting and performance optimisation capabilities.
• Experience with storage automation and infrastructure-as-code approaches.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and lead technical discussions.
