We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager - Engineering Practice & Transformation to lead the establishment and evolution of an enterprise-wide Engineering Practice across multiple technology platforms.

This is a high-impact role focused on driving organisational change, uplifting engineering capability, and embedding consistent engineering standards across a complex, global environment.

You will operate at the intersection of technology, operating model design, and transformation, working closely with senior engineering and architecture leadership to shape how engineering is delivered at scale.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

Engineering Practice Set-Up & Evolution

• Lead the creation and rollout of an Engineering Practice across platforms including application, cloud, data, and integration.
• Define the practice's scope, purpose, and measurable success criteria.
• Partner with CTO leadership, Engineering Leads, and Architects to design governance structures such as communities of practice and decision forums.
• Drive adoption of engineering standards, patterns, and best practices aligned to enterprise architecture.
• Ensure consistent ways of working across engineering teams while allowing for platform-specific needs.

Organisational Change & Adoption

• Develop and execute a comprehensive change and adoption strategy.
• Assess current engineering maturity and identify capability gaps.
• Lead change initiatives including communications, training, and stakeholder engagement.
• Track adoption metrics to demonstrate improvements in engineering quality, effectiveness, and resilience.

Technical Credibility & Stakeholder Management

• Act as a trusted partner to senior engineers and architects.
• Translate engineering strategy into actionable transformation initiatives.
• Align cross-functional stakeholders including Engineering, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Service Management, and HR.
• Manage complex relationships within a global, matrixed organisation.

Governance, Planning & Reporting

• Maintain structured delivery artefacts including roadmaps, risk logs, and dependency tracking.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise governance, controls, and policy frameworks.
• Deliver clear, outcome-focused reporting to senior leadership.

Vendor & Partner Coordination

• Oversee third-party and vendor contributions (e.g. tooling, training, specialist services).
• Ensure all partner activity aligns with organisational standards and long-term capability goals.

Required Skills/ experience

• Proven track record leading large-scale organisational change within technology or engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices (e.g. DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development).
• Experience establishing or evolving engineering practices, operating models, or centres of excellence.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills in complex, matrixed organisations.
• Strong delivery management capability across multiple workstreams, risks, and dependencies.
