Purpose of the Role
We are recruiting a dedicated Project Manager to support a confidential, defined organisational and operational transition within our commissioning and publishing function. This role is explicitly scoped to the transition programme only and will not sit within BAU delivery. The Project Manager will provide structure, momentum, and grip across multiple interdependent workstreams, ensuring continuity of delivery while new roles, processes, and governance are embedded.
Key Responsibilities
Transition Planning & Governance
- Own and maintain the end-to-end transition plan, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
- Establish and run light-touch but effective governance: RAID logs, decision tracking, and progress reporting.
- Ensure clarity on ownership and handovers between "current state" and "future state" teams.
Operational & People Transition Support
- Coordinate the movement of junior staff between teams, ensuring continuity of work, documentation, and support.
- Track resourcing assumptions (including new hires), onboarding timelines, and interim capacity risks.
- Support leaders in translating high-level decisions into executable actions for teams.
Process, Documentation & Best Practice
- Drive the documentation of current and future-state workflows, roles, and accountabilities.
- Ensure best-practice materials are consolidated, updated, and accessible for junior staff.
- Support alignment of operational processes (e.g. expense and invoice routing, approval paths, governance checkpoints).
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a neutral, delivery-focused point of coordination across commissioning, commercial, finance, and leadership stakeholders.
- Prepare concise updates, briefing materials, and decision papers as required.
- Maintain momentum where priorities compete or ownership is diffuse.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering complex organisational or operational change.
- Strong grip on planning, dependencies, and follow-through - comfortable operating in ambiguity.
- Experience working with editorial, publishing, or professional services teams is desirable.
- Confident working with senior stakeholders while remaining pragmatic and delivery-focused.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to simplify and structure complex information.
